Memorial Day Weekend

I have a million things to post about... Hopefully I'll catch up with the 'back blogging' soon.
Memorial day weekend we had our first road trip with Parker. We went over to ML for Spring Fest. My dad was in the parade this year with his new "toy":

He's been fixing up the truck for the last few weeks in preparation for his parade schedule this summer... he's doing lilac festival, and a couple other parades this summer too. He was on the hunt for authentic flags from all the branches of the military, and he rented a speaker system that sits off the back and blares patriotic music. Haha, he's having lots of fun, and we wanted to go and cheer him on from the side lines. The ride over was interesting... what is normally a 2.5 hour drive was 5.5 hours from a collision on I-90/memorial day traffic. Parker actually did pretty well, and we just had to feed him once during the ride. We were hoping we'd make it in time for the lip sync on Friday night, but because of our long drive we just settled in at my mom and dad's house for the night. Saturday we put Parker in the front pack and headed to the 3 on 3 basketball tournaments and ate some good fair food. He sleeps so hard in the front pack, so we barely saw his eyes open. We met up with Lacey and Ian briefly... definitely don't get to see them enough, but it was good to spend a little bit of time with them before Ian had to go to work.

At the car show... Grandpa Erickson making his best 'Parker face'.
I took a few pictures of my dad and his truck. He wore his own fatigues from his service in Vietnam (he was pretty proud they still fit- except for the pants). His buddy Leonard (who was also a veteran) rode with him too... and they led a large group of veteran bikers. It was actually pretty impressive- he came barreling around the corner, the gun going off and the music blasting, followed by all the motorbikes. He got lots of good cheers! You can tell he's having lots of fun by the giant grin on his face.

Then late Saturday night we headed to Pullman to spend the rest of the weekend with Nate and Lindsay in Pullman. Parker slept the whole ride to Pullman (gotta love a 5 week old that travels well!). Sunday we took him to the Coug baseball game (they swept the Huskies!) and he got his first picture with Butch. I really didn't want to be in it, but Butch isn't allowed to hold babies (believe me, I tried). I had just woke him up and pulled him out of the front pack, so you can tell he's very excited to pose for the picture. :)

Great post! We love the one with Parker and his Grandpa. Many thanks to your Dad for his service; you must be very proud!
